Kasia Kieli, President & MD Discovery EMEA manages Discovery’s biggest international region, consisting of 140 markets across Europe, Middle East and Africa. Kasia Kieli is responsible for the strategic commercial development of these markets and manages a portfolio of 50 channel brands and an increasing suite of direct-to-consumer products including Dplay that launched in Italy, UK and Netherlands earlier this year. Discovery is a top #3 media company in Europe, reaching 306M viewers monthly. Following the Scripps acquisition Discovery is now #1 media company in Poland with TVN.

2019 highlights include the launch of Joyn, the joint streaming platform with ProSiebenSat1 and 15 other content partners in Germany, establishing a pay-tv headquarters in Amsterdam, the announcement of a JV with Polsat in Poland to create a joint streaming platform and the announcement of a 10-year partnership with the BBC which makes Discovery the global home of BBC’s landmark natural history and premium factual content in SVOD.

Kasia is also focused on rolling out Scripps lifestyle brands across the region including HGTV which launched this year in Germany (as an FTA channel), South Africa, and is rebranding from Home to HGTV in the UK in early 2020.  Following Discovery’s acquisition of the exclusive multi-platform media rights for the Olympic Games in Europe from 2018-2024, she continues to focus on the company’s commercial and all-screen audience preparations for Eurosport’s first summer Olympics in Tokyo 2020.

Kasia Kieli was previously President of Discovery Central Europe, Middle East and Africa region. She joined Discovery in 2000.

Kieli is a graduate of the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School. She also has an MBA and degree from the University of Calgary and a degree from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana (U.S.) where she also taught. 

Kasia Kieli is also a member of the Joyn board in Germany.
