MTN Group halts Iran fibre plan

MTN Group's US$750m plan to extend home fibre broadband connections to Iranian cities has been put on hold due to the potential economic sanctions imposed by US President Donald Trump, Bloomberg reports.

As previously reported, MTN planned last year to buy a stake in state-owned broadband provider Iranian Net. However, the Iranian government has not been able to contribute funding so far, the report says.
