OCK eyes tower unit spin-off

Malaysian infrastructure operator OCK Group is considering a spin-off listing of its tower business on a foreign stock exchange by 2020, according to the company’s managing director Sam Ooi Chin Khoon in an interview with The Edge Malaysia.

OCK has a regional presence with more than 3,500 towers in three markets: Vietnam, Myanmar and Malaysia. Once its tower portfolio reaches the 5,000 mark, by next year at the earliest, OCK’s regional business will be big enough to be spun off from the group, according to Ooi.

Telekom Malaysia (TM) announced that its acting group CEO Datuk Bazlan Osman has resigned effective November 16, 2018. He has also given notice of his resignation as executive director (ED) which takes effect on February 28, 2019. He took the helm at the company in June 2018 after the resignatioin of Dato’ Sri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly. Datuk Bazlan began his career in TM as Group CFO in 2005.

edotco eyes more tower acquisitions

edotco Group is working on more tower acquisition deals with the firm aiming to complete the deals in the next 12 months and to boost its infrastructure portfolio*, according to the towerco’s CEO Suresh Sidhu in an interview to Reuters. The company will focus on the markets where it has footprint with a special target for Malaysia, Myanmar and Bangladesh, and it is also looking at Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and the Philippines as potential markets to enter.

This acquisition plans follow the company’s announcement to terminate the US$940m tower acquisition from VEON in Pakistan.
