The World Economic Forum, United Nations, OECD and World Bank come together to discuss sustainable smart city business models for emerging economies at The Global Technology & Investment Summit 2018

The heart of a city’s future is to build intelligence through its infrastructure, to bring together technologies, solutions and audiences to create the connected ecosystem, establishing the Smart City of the Future.

The Smart Cities Global Technology & Investment Summit 2018, is fast becoming the destination to discuss the emerging trends across smart city technology with mobility and infrastructure, smart data and sustainability, talent mobilisation and the Government’s role in stimulating adoption of new technologies is the top of the visionary agenda for the first Global Smart Cities Summit held in Algiers on June 27-28.

Keynotes from the World Economic Forum, United Nations, The OECD, World Bank, Smart Africa and other institutional global organisations will feature heavily across the 2-day programme, to discuss smart city investment models, leapfrog technologies and how funding can depart from traditional models of infrastructure.

Other speakers announced include Huawei, HPE, NEC, IBM EBRD, Ericsson, City Labs and Africa Development Bank who will be exploring the various smart city strategies taken by different cities globally and what’s next for government, business, civil society, academia and new smart city startups.

The Smart Cities Global Technology & Investment Summit is also partnering with The World Bank to discuss how the service economy and digital transformation can drive growth and job creation across emerging economies. Rabah Arezki, Chief Economist for Middle East and North Africa Region said, ‘We are witnessing cities worldwide exploring the community impact on implementing smart city strategies and we need to harness this and adapt particularly within the service sector.'
