Linklaters: TMT deal pipeline strengthened by innovative tech and new applications

Telecom, media and technology (TMT) merger and acquisition activity is expected to continue to be active across Europe, with a number of key deals in motion and more expected to shake up the sector over the next 12 months, according to leading global law firm Linklaters.

“We expect there to be an active and robust M&A environment in the TMT sector in 2018, driven by strong equity and debt markets and growing confidence in developing technologies,” said Iain Fenn, Partner at Linklaters, who will be chairing a key leadership panel at the TMT M&A Forum 2018 taking place in London on May 22-23. http://www.tmtfinance.com/merger/

“In particular, innovative applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning increasingly make such technologies more accessible and relevant to a broader range of businesses,” he added.

Fenn will moderate the TMT M&A Panel at the event, which brings together five leading executives and advisers active in telecom, media and tech. These include Heads of TMT Investment Banking from Morgan Stanley and UBS, Nuno Machado and Christian Lesueur; John Woyton, Managing Director at global private equity firm Advent International; Nina Weiden, Senior Vice President of M&A at German multinational media company Bertelsmann; and Marc C. Ganzi, Managing Partner of US TMT infrastructure investment group Digital Colony. The session will see the panellists discuss the latest merger and acquisition strategies globally.

TMT M&A Forum 2018 gathers 350 senior telecom, media and technology M&A leaders (CEOs, CFOs, Heads of M&A and Strategy), private equity firms, regulators, investment banks and advisers to discuss the latest strategies and themes driving global M&A strategies over two days, via a mixture of leadership panels, private networking, keynote speeches and breakout sessions.

Linklaters, one of the leading sponsors at the event, will also be chairing two breakout sessions across the two days: Mobile Towers M&A (Day 1) and Tech M&A Roundtable (Day 2), which include senior executives from companies such as Digital Colony, TDF and Arcus Infrastructure Partners LLP.
