Emerging technologies and infrastructure consolidation to drive TMT M&A into 2019

TMT Finance has just released its predictions for the factors that will drive potential TMT deals across Asia in 2019. The media firm identified emerging technologies and continuing TMT infrastructure consolidation as being critical drivers of M&A into 2019. In addition, they also picked out AI, Fintech, Shared Economy, Robotics and eSports to be key themes driving deals during the coming year.

Other factors that will stimulate potential TMT deals in Asia next year are the continuing consolidation and M&A in wireless infrastructure, fibre, datacenters and cloud-based companies throughout the region.

“Despite the recent dip in Asian and global tech stocks, we believe Asia’s telecom, media and tech sector is thriving, with US$200bn worth of deals announced in 2018 and more to come in 2019,” said Ben Nice, Managing Editor, TMT Finance.

“Fundamentals still appear to be strong, with China leading innovation in areas such as AI, Robotics and Fintech. Capital is still largely available for companies throughout Asia wanting to build scale via M&A and partnerships, while telecom, datacentre and infrastructure-related deals will continue to be driven by a need for consolidation and active build and buy strategies being applied by private equity firms and infrastructure funds in the region and globally,” said Nice.

The company has spent the last 6 months securing the attendance of over 150  industry, investment and advisory leaders from the Asian TMT space to form the speaker faculty at the forthcoming TMT Finance Asia event,  taking place 23-24 January in Singapore. The event will bring together over 350 of the key figures behind the hottest deals in Asian TMT from 2018 to discuss strategies and exchange their predictions for the year ahead.

The event provides delegates with inspiring keynotes from visionary leaders sharing their ideas on the next decade and beyond. There also will be more intimate leadership fireside chats as well as top tier level debate and of course, excellent opportunities for networking with senior representatives from Singtel, Google, Axiata, edotco, DBS, Linklaters, PCCW-HKT, HKBN, Cellcard, Etisalat, Huawei, MyRepublic, Hardiman Telecommunications, Reliance Group, SAP, StarHub, Telstra, PCTL, Bukalapak, Sequoia, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, Capgemini India, PPDai, Jungle Ventures, OneConnect Financial Technology, Linklaters, IFC World Bank, HappyFresh, Jungle Ventures and many more for potential TMT deals in future.
