Private equity firm Warburg Pincus appointed nine new managing directors, including two in the TMT area. They are Vishnu Menon, technology, media and telecommunications (TMT), San Francisco, and NitinNayar, technology, media and telecommunications, Mumbai.
UBS AG named Mahmoud Abdulhadi CEO in Saudi Arabia. He will assume the post from Mohamed Sammakia. Abdulhadi will report to Middle East and North Africa group CEO Tony Iliya.
Aircel, RCom rejig management
The pressure of running an Indian mobile company can be intense these days, with several top staff changes at Aircel and RCom. Aircel in the last month has lost its COO Gurdeep Singh, Chief Technology Officer MalickarjunRao, and most recently its Chief Marketing Officer Rahul Saighal. He is replaced by AnupamVasudev, who was a regional business head. There is speculation that Aircel’s 74% owner, Malaysia’s Maxis Communications, may wish to sell the business, which has been caught up in the 2G licensing saga.
For its part Rcom announced that its wireless business head Syed Safawiis leaving the company and COO Shamik Das would oversee all the geographical divisions. The company is also merging all its geographical units, and geographical heads would report to Das, Joint President &COO. Prior to joining RCom, Das was withBhartiAirtel for more than 15 years.
