South Africa targets swifter spectrum auctions

South Africa's Minister of Communications is lo¬oking to speed up the issue of mobile spectrum by opening two public consultations on the issue, with the aim of accepting bids in March 2012. The first consultation is on directing Icasa to 'fast track' the finalisation of the methodology for issuing spectrum in the 2.6 GHz bands, and the second will assess how to use the digital dividend spectrum in the frequency bands 174-230 MHz and 470-790MHz.
